Everyone has passions and hobbies of all different sorts but for this month’s artist of the month junior Shelby Domoleczny, it is singing in choir and musical theater.
Domoleczny had developed her love for music and singing at a young age from the environment she had grown up in. “I grew up in a very musical household and choir seemed like a good steppingstone for future music experience,” Domoleczyn said. One of Domoleczny’s main goals was to become more proficient at making music with others alongside her.
Besides choir in the school, she takes honors classes and is a part of the school’s theater program. For many, all of that would have been hard to balance, but for Domoleczny, it was not too difficult, and she still managed to put music and theater on top.
Domoleczny’s has been a part of the school choir since her freshman year and has made many new friends and memories from the program. “I have so many amazing experiences with Shelby, going to ILMEA and overboard with her and just like we love the same things and just spending time with her is the best,” junior Marylou McClain said.
Choir director Ali Stachowicz said, “What makes her impressive is that her sense of pitch is super accurate and her voice has a very pretty tone quality. This earned her a spot in Crimson Choir ever since her sophomore year, many high marks at Solo & Ensemble Contest, and she is on track to become the first student at OTHS to make All-State for choir for 4 straight years.” Domolezny has been to district and all-state for choir every single year. Her favorite moments so far in choir have been the pop concerts. “It is always the most fun time of the year, and we all get to goof off and sing pop songs together,” Domoleczny said.
As for future plans, Shelby Domoleczny plans on continuing to sing and perform as long as she can. Performing is her favorite thing in the world, and she hopes that she can do it for the rest of her life. Currently, she plans on performing for fine arts again this year and singing the national anthem at the boys basketball senior night.
