Alysa Lui is an Olympic figure skater. She recently won gold in this year’s winter Olympics, and did her routine to Donna Summer’s “MacArthur Park”
Lui Began skating at age five, she later became the youngest U.S. women’s national champion at just 13 in 2019. She also became the youngest to win two senior titles.
Lui was born August 8, 2005, in California and is the oldest of five siblings. Lui went to the Oakland School of Arts and then California Connections Academy. She graduated at 15 and now attends UCLA and majors in psychology.
Lui started her Olympic career at the winter games in Beijing in 2022 where she placed sixth, highest of all the U.S. competitors. For a brief period, Lui retired from skating at 16, then decided to come back. Upon her return “Liu became the first U.S. figure skater to win the women’s singles world title in 19 years at the 2025 World Championships held in Boston” according to, TeamUSA.com
In her most recent win, Lui is described as having a “free spirit and a joyful demeanor” during her routine, said Talia Barrington, an NBCS ports journalist. Liu had a two-point lead over Japan’s three-time victor Kaori Sakamoto. Lui had done seven triple jumps and many difficult tricks, earning a score of 226.79. After the medal ceremony Lui said, “ It was an unbelievable feeling when I was done skating. And when I was skating — hearing the cheers — and I felt so connected with the audience. I want to be out there again.”

Lui declined the offer because of her father being outspoken about his distaste for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Lui said, “When I’m in the U.S. I’m American, When I’m in China, I’m Chinese.”
