The Faculty Showcase was the closing of the Fine Arts Festival, with many acts from retired teachers to dance numbers.
The beginning of the show started with a band that included retired teachers with Brian Gunther and Bob Bradish on guitar, and custodian Kevin Cavanaugh. They played rock music. The audience seemed to enjoy this by cheering loudly, and I thought they sounded very cohesive together. Cavanaugh said, “My favorite part was playing drums with the band, I hadn’t played with a band in almost 50 years!!”
The faculty women did a dance to a popular Tik Tok trend “Double Dutch Bus,” There was then a retiree slideshow, and many students, clapped for their favorite teachers. There was another slideshow for the teachers to go down memory lane with. Followed by applause and cheers. After that, teachers got up on stage and showed the year they graduated with signs alluded to songs with the years.
The show ended with a dance to the song “YMCA” featuring teachers Brandan VanDuzer, Nick McLaughlin and many more. McLaughlin said, “I wasn’t going to participate, but Mr. Andrews asked me to join. He’s retiring at the end of the year, and I have a lot of respect for him, so I agreed to Participate in honor of him.” I thought this year’s faculty showcase was thought out and had a smooth run compared to last year, which I thought felt rushed.
