Water is an important supplement to everyone’s day. Maybe it’s after practice and you just need a quick sip, or maybe it’s just during passing periods filling up a water bottle. The question still remains: what floor has the best water?
The taste and smell of the water fountains play a major role in choosing what fountain to go to or if it is just worth waiting. One water fountain that is recommended by many is the 900-floor fountain by the girls bathroom. Science teacher Karyn Raider said, “900 because of the water bottle filler.” This water fountain has coldish water coming out from it that is refreshing but has more potential.
One fountain that refreshes the athlete after practice is the 0-floor water fountain near the boys bathroom close to West Gym. While out the way for most students this water fountain has cold water without the metallic taste some fountains have. Sophomore Grant Muenchow said, “It is the coldest in the school and it is very good after practice.”
Another water fountain that is highly recommended by many is the cafeteria water fountain. This fountain also has a water bottle filler, which is another great addition. It has cold water and lacks the weird aftertaste and hose water smell that some other water fountains may have.
While the taste and smell play the biggest role in which water fountain is the best, the location of the water fountain plays a significant role too. Some fountains are just out of the way, like 100, for most students, and some are just covered by traffic, like 900 during passing periods. Some fountains that beat these hardships are the 800 fountains, which are cold and refreshing, the 200-floor water fountain by the nurse’s office because there may be some traffic but not much and it has cold water with a slight hint of metal in the water but it is easily accessible from the 700 through 900 floors. Another fountain that is also hard to access is on the 500 floor because of all the traffic of students going from class to class.
While there are many options for water fountains, the Kingman lobby fountains are disliked. “They’re just too warm and out of the way to actually get to if you’re coming down from either set of stairs,” freshman Brayden Bryan said. These fountains are warm with an old cucumber smell and are just hard to reach with the hordes of people commuting through the halls.
For some of the coldest and no weird smell or tasting water, the 400-cafeteria fountain would be the highest recommended because of its water bottle filler, easy access and its non-funky smell.
