Fall is here, and there are so many activities to do from the pumpkin patch, haunted houses and trick-or-treating. But that begs the question, are high school kids dressing up anymore?
As children, the most exciting part of October was Halloween. Most of us had a costume picked out or knew what we wanted to be. We would go from door to door saying “trick-or-treat,” having a bucket full of candy and eating most of it. Do high school teens still participate?
As someone who helps hand out candy, I can say it is common to see teens dressing up and participating in Halloween activities. I do mostly see younger children, but having teen trick-or-treaters is more common than most people think.
According to AOL, 5 percent of adults think 16 should be cut off for trick-or-treating. To get better intel on whether teens are dressing up, I asked around. The consensus is that most teens are planning to dress up, and those who were not were planning to have a small get together with friends. Sophomore Taylor Ditchfield said, “Yeah, I plan on dressing up. I’m being the Joker,” Sophomore Mackenzee Raush said, “I’m not dressing up I’m just hanging out with friends and watching horror movies.” “I’m dressing up I just don’t know what to be yet,” said, Sophomore Mady Olszewski
If you are not sure what to be and you need dress-up ideas, here are a few easy ones; cowboy/cowgirl and a pirate. If you are going with friends, Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Power Puff Girls, and the Scooby Doo characters.
