La Michoacana is the place to go for all taste buds. They offer many options including ice cream, popsicles, yogurt, smoothies, spicy food, and snacks.
It is located on Columbus Street here in Ottawa. On weekdays it opens from noon to 9pm and on weekends it opens from noon to 10 pm. It was first opened on October 30, of 2025.
Do you want something spicy and sweet? A mangoade is the right thing for you at La Michoacana. It’s a dessert or beverage with a sweet, spicy and tangy flavor made with mangos, chamoy sauce-a tangy, sweet, spicy sauce often for fruits-, chilly powder and lime juice. This will make your taste buds go crazy.
There are many options for something sweet, but my favorite ones are frezas con crema, ice cream and popsicles Frezas con crema is strawberries with a creamy sauce made from evaporated milk, vanilla extract and sweetened condensed milk. There are about 20 different flavors of ice cream, but my personal favorite is Ferrero Rocher. There are more than 20 different flavors of popsicles with water based and milk based.
If you want something refreshing to drink, aguas frescas are the best choice for you. This is a Mexican traditional drink made from fruit, water, and sweetener. My favorite flavor is watermelon, but there are different flavors including jamica, limon and horchata.
Senior Grecia Romero, has been working at La Michoacana for two years now. “Me and my coworkers all work as a team and always help each other out. I like making conversations with customers and often have a good interaction with them. Positive environment overall,” quoted Romero.
Overall, La Michoacana is the best place to go for desserts or even just snacks.
