I decided to look for the best vanilla ice cream flavor and chose four brands to see which is the best. My rating system was one through five out of each brand. I chose 4 ice cream brands: Breyers, Haagen-Dazs, Tillamook and Edy’s.
The first ice cream I tried was Haagen-Dazs with a price point of $4.50 and $6.50. It had a very authentic vanilla flavor that reminds me of vanilla from Mexico, but it’s not overpowering. The ice cream was smooth, and it did not have a fluffy, thick feeling in my mouth. Haagen-Dazs was creamy and had the right amount of milkiness. Overall, I give this brand a 5/5.
The next brand I tried was Breyers at a price of $4.50. The first look at the ice cream was that it had a slight yellow tint. The ice-cream had a thicker feeling in my mouth and did not melt as fast as the earlier one. The vanilla had a more synthetic taste to it and was not very potent. I don’t think ice cream is terrible. I’d reach for it if it were in the freezer. I give Breyers a 3.5/5.
Tillamook was next at a price of $5.99 and $6.18. and it was horrible ice cream. The vanilla did not even taste remotely close to vanilla. It was like banana pudding with a synthetic taste. Not only was the taste bad, but the texture was frosting on store bought cakes; it was overly thick. With this ice cream I felt like I had to chew it. I give Tillamook 1/5.
Edy’s vanilla ice cream was an okay choice at a price of $6.99. Edy’s had a thick but very creamy texture, and I felt like the two complemented each other well. The vanilla was not as potent as I would like. It had a synthetic taste and was not the best flavor. I give Edy’s a 3/10.
