Sophomore Savannah Markey is a talented multi-sport player; in this year’s track season she was able to break the 4×100 school record.
Markey has been in track for two years. She explains her favorite part of the sport is being able to feel her improving her skills and improving her athleticism. As a result of her athleticism, she was able to break a school record. Markey added once she found out she had broken the record, she felt accomplished, and since it was broken as a relay, she broke it with sophomore Karsyn Moore, freshman Daisy Rabadan, and freshman Trinity Casas
Markey explained she preps for a meet by drinking an Alani, drinking a liquid IV, and eating an Uncrustable. The last thing she does is take an ibuprofen, and she uses “lots of Bio freeze.”
Senior Bella Markey said, “Being on the team with my sister is so fun because we get to do the things we love together. We always push each other to do better and we can work on things that need fixing together. I’m going to miss it next year when I’m not there to cheer her on all the time.”
Track Coach Brent Moore said, “Savannah is not only a great athlete, but also a great person. Having multi-sport athletes in our school is something that should be recognized, and Savanna certainly falls in that category and is successful while doing it.”
