“Farm stuff,” senior Connor Fulkerson said about future plans for the FFA. Treasurer Fulkerson really knows his stuff.
The Future Farmers of America, or the FFA, is an important group to many students. They talk about farming, agriculture and cookouts. They recently hosted a sectional dodgeball competition, and all members of the Section 7 FFA Region, including many elementary schools in the surrounding area, joined in on the fun. Lots of children were there and competed along with high school students. Many of the kids got really into the game, throwing colored foam balls at each other as fast as they could.
“Dodgeball is always the best and it really brings out the competitive side of people. I like FFA because I’ve always known people involved with it and enjoyed different activities through the club,” four-year FFA member Landin Sawin said.
“Being the FFA Chapter President is both fun and challenging. I like planning events and bringing new members in, I also enjoy all of the activites FFA offers and the people I have met in the organization,” senior President Tucker Ditchfield said.
This is Ditchfield’s first year as President, as he was a treasurer for the past two years. He is currently headed to state interviews, which is a competition based on how you do creating your “workbook,” which is a logbook about your turf grass management. Ditchfield won at district and sectionals, and if he wins at state, he will continue on to nationals.
The Future Farmers of America meet once a month in the Agriculture Shop. There are currently around twenty-five members, they are always encouraging and accepting additions to their group.
