The band has been working hard to bring the holiday concert to life. Band teacher Andrew Jacobi has been preparing his bands for this year’s holiday concert for a couple of months now. They have been rehearing as a class every day and with the choir.
“I have been getting in as much practice as possible at home between homework and other things,” senior Katelynn Gray said.
There will be many different songs than last year to hear at the holiday concert. “I enjoy playing ‘Into the Clouds’ because it is one of the easier songs to play and it is a nice little break from the other harder songs,” junior Breille Grady said. “I like playing and hearing ‘Spoon River’ the most. That’s my favorite song,” Gray said.
Jacobi expressed his excitement about the concert and what he has done to prepare. “One piece I arranged is called ‘Christmas Eve Suite.’ I just thought it would be fun to play, and I thought my students would have fun playing it.”
“One of the movements is everything I imagined it to be. It’s a lot of fun to hear that creation come to life. I spent between 6 and 8 months arranging these two pieces. I am very excited to play this with my band. The songs we are playing will be more unique than some simpler Christmas songs. Some will sound like winter though,” Jacobi said.
The concert will be on Thursday December 12 at 7pm.
