Did you figure out what to wear this Halloween? According to students, plague doctors, steam punks, movie killers and Victoria Secret Angels are all the rage this season.
Every year the classic costumes are always seen: ghosts, killers, vampires and witches. Though these costumes can be pulled off well, it’s the more unique costumes that turn heads. Last year, the Barbie costume was all over. Why? Because that’s what was popular on the internet and on the screen. “Some costumes from past trends just need to be put to rest. Barbie, Wednesday Adams, and Thing One and Thing Two are so overused,” fashion expert sophomore Rudi Fleck said. This year costumes such as a Victoria Secret Angel, Beetlejuice, Minions and “Inside Out” characters are going to be the most popular, because of their appearance online.
What about our school? What are the most popular costumes here? Many went as the classic plague doctor or movie killer, such as Michael Myers or Ghostface. The most popular kind of costumes are group and couple costumes. Many include TV and movie characters, such as the Mystery Squad or Alice in Wonderland characters, well as more generic costumes such as animals like a bumblebee and ladybug or deer and hunter. “Anything can be a costume if you think about it,” one sophomore said. So go get creative.
The best idea may be from freshman Audrey Sturmer, which is for students to dress up as teachers. Have a favorite teacher? Ask for permission and slay the house down twinning with them. Throw on a cardigan to look like your favorite English teacher or a lanyard to be gym teacher. “It would be a fun thing to connect the students and staff in a positive way,” Sturmer said.
Show your festive side and dress up in the best costume every Halloween season by considering the latest trends from pop culture and the school.
