Are you the apple of someone’s eye? If you’re snuggling up with your boo this fall, I have some fun fall date ideas for you.
As a person who isn’t in a relationship, I wondered what people who do like the company of other human beings would go out and do together. After investigating, I’ve compiled a list of dates or friend hangouts for the autumn season.
Cookie Baking – This is a great activity to get closer with your loved ones. “The fall is more for cozying up to each other,” senior Grace Taylor said, to which her boyfriend, senior Logan Hennick said, “We do make a lot of cookies.”
Giving Candy to Trick or Treaters – This is a wonderful way to celebrate Halloween together and still give back to the community. “We’re planning on handing out candy this year”, Hennick said. Plus, you get ideas for next year’s costumes.
Horror Movie Night – Get snacks and a blanket and cuddle up on the couch; instead of those boring romance movies made in an attempt to show there’s still love in the world, watch someone die.
Pumpkin Carving – An excellent activity to get a dive into your partner’s and friend’s artistic abilities.
Haunted House – Whether you’re planning on walking through it and jumping in your partner’s arms or teaming up to scare children, a haunted house is a great hangout idea to get you in the Halloween spirit. Locally, Camp Tuckabatchee and Insanity Haunted House are always looking for help and are fun to visit.
Pumpkin Patch – Trust me, your girl will be smitten if you boys put on a sweater, stop for Starbucks and take her to the pumpkin patch. With so many activities, you can spend all day creating memories to last forever. It’s an added bonus that you’re supporting a small business.
Farmer’s Market – We have fall fests all the time here in Ottawa. They usually run on weekends from Sept-Nov in downtown Ottawa near Washington Park. Walk around, smell the pumpkin candles, grab some cider, buy a leaf coaster from a local pottery shop, bring home some corn, maybe even hold hands. Just don’t let anyone see.
Mini Road Trip – This weather is stunning for an autumn drive. “The weather is perfect. The oranges and reds are absolutely gorgeous,” senior Kyle Hobbs said. Pack some sandwiches and snacks, fill up the gas tank, create a fall playlist and take the route by Starved Rock for some awesome vibes. The beautiful scenery makes for a really romantic atmosphere; just don’t hit a deer.
All in all, it doesn’t matter how much money you can spend. There are plenty of fall things to do with your loved ones to make long-lasting memories. Just try to be thoughtful and have a good, spooky holiday.
Falling for you? Route 71 and the autumn leaves make a great combination for a perfect date drive.
