The leaves are falling and the air is becoming crisp. You know what that means? It is time to retire summer clothing for the season. The last thing anyone wants is to wear a big thick coat and heavy gear, so here are some fashionable options that will also keep you warm.
First layering is a must. Take a cute long-sleeved shirt or a sweater and layer a cardigan or lighter jacket on top. If you are layering warmer things on top, keep your pants warmer. “Limit the amount of rips in your jeans,” junior Enrika Harris said. Keeping the outfits simple and then layering either a coat, jacket, cardigan or even a shawl is a great idea to elevate an outfit. According to “Vogue” wool, animal print, fur and longer coats are in right now and will help you when layering since you can get them to match with many trending fall and winter colors.
To keep your hair from being messed up while staying warm, wear earmuffs because they will keep your ears warm, and you can use them as a statement piece in your outfit. It doesn’t matter if they are big and fluffy or even smaller and simpler, a pair of earmuffs are a must have. When searching for a perfect pair of earmuffs, you do not want a thin pair that won’t benefit you.
Try to find a pair that covers all around your ear and that is also warm and coated with fluff or fur so your ears stay warm. They are so great because they won’t only just keep you warm but also according to “Cosmopolitan”, “Simultaneously bring elevation to any look.” Compared to beanies which are also a great option, earmuffs are harder to come across. Places like Walmart, Farm and Fleet, and maybe even some boutiques downtown may carry them. If not, amazon and online shopping is another great option.
I mean they call fall and winter sweater weather for a reason; big sweaters are another really easy way to stay warm. “The bigger the sweaters the warmer I am,” says junior Cash Nilles. You can pair so many different bottoms with them so the possibilities are endless. You can easily thrift a cute sweater either from the women’s or men’s section. Big sweaters are so common these days you can find many different kinds so there should be no excuse to why you couldn’t find one that fits you.
Don’t think that I forgot about shoes. Having a warm and comfy pair of boots is a must when walking around in cold weather. I think we can all agree that the first type of boots that come to mind when thinking about fall and colder weather is Uggs. “Uggs are like a warm hug for your feet, with the soft interior and exterior every step feels like you’re walking on a cloud,” sophomore Morgan Lazar said. A nice alternative to Uggs are Bearpaws.
They are equally comfortable and are good quality. There are so many different styles of both with different lengths and colors.
Staying warm during the cold weather is so important, and it’s so easy to incorporate your style into your everyday outfits.
