How does going home at 7:30 pm every night sound? These long twelve-hour days are the reality for the swim team. They swim with the Lasalle-Peru Co-op swim team. The team unites swimmers from Ottawa, Serena, Steator and Henry. Swimmers must ride all the way out to LP High School to practice every day. “It would be nice to swim in Ottawa and not go all the way to LP,” junior Makena Burke said. Though the bus rides can be annoying, the girls find ways to make them fun. Bus rides include team bonding activities like singing and gossiping, along with a few naps.
