With school being back in session, the jam-packed schedules must leave students, and teachers, stressed.
I’ve found that stress can often be either an easy thing to get rid of or a hard thing to get rid of. Doing things that I enjoy usually solves the problem. A nice, home-cooked meal often relieves my stress and calms me down, or simply watching TV shows for an hour to ease my mind off the homework I receive.
Everyone surely has stressful days. Sophomore Zachary Greene, who is currently in all honors classes, said, “Even though I haven’t been bombarded with assignments yet, there are still sometimes when I’m quite busy.” Greene says he enjoys music, video games and car rides, as they all help to ease stress. “My favorite is definitely listening to music because I can just relax and focus on the music.”
But let’s not think about just how stressful school can be. Sophomore John Ruiz is in football as well as working a part-time job. “Working and football generally isn’t all that stressful, but it isn’t great how little free time I have.” With what free time he does have he likes to, “watch TV and cook for myself.”
With students being stressed at the start of the school year, teachers must certainly be stressed as well. Honors Chemistry Teacher Jessica Overocker has her fair share of students to deal with, teaching three different classes throughout the day. “I like to hang out with my dogs, my family too,” Overocker said. In teachers and students, it seems that doing things you enjoy is the cure to the “Back-to-School Sickness.”
