Summertime tunes. Evvie Jeppson sings and plays the acoustic guitar for guest at Casa Mia restaurant. This past summer Jeppson played multiple local venues, expanding her repertoire.
Performing in public settings may seem terrifying for many, but for senior Evvie Jeppson, singing and playing for crowds comes naturally. From playing guitar around town to singing at August Hill Winery, Jeppson’s talents are on full display.
“Performing in front of a crowd used to be a big fear of mine before I participated in fine arts student talent. After performing over and over again, I fell in love with it. All the students are very supportive and a good audience to me,” Jeppson said.
Jeppson has played guitar for the past five years and has both played and sung at many events in the last couple of years. Along with guitar, she has played piano for a number of years and has performed solos at the Solo and Ensemble contest since freshman year; she plans to continue her piano and vocal studies throughout college, where she will major in music therapy.
This past month, she has completed several college auditions at multiple schools in Michigan. “Evvie has an extremely bright future as a music therapist, as well as a gigging musician if she continues to do that,” choir director Ali Stachowicz said. “She has spent her high school career putting energy and curiosity into being the most well-rounded musician she can be. She is creative in a way that is unparalleled as a high school student, and I think the best part is that she does all of this simply because it brings her joy,” Stachowicz said.
Jeppson spent the past month practicing diligently for her performances at Solo and Ensemble, which took place on March 8. She received a perfect score for her vocal solo as well as first division rankings for all her other performances.
We encourage you to continue to support Jeppson by following her journey as a young artist through her socials, @evviejmusic on every platform.
